Lesley Gittings

Lesley Gittings is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work SSHINE (Stigma and Sexual Health Interventions to Nurture Empowerment) Lab. Her research focuses on HIV, gender and sexual and reproductive health of adolescents using participatory and arts-based approaches. She is an investigator on studies in Canada and Eastern and Southern Africa, with adolescent sub-populations facing multiple intersecting barriers to health equity. These groups include: adolescents living with HIV in South Africa, very young adolescents in Kenya, refugee youth in Uganda, Indigenous and Northern young people in the Northwest Territories and youth experiencing homelessness in Toronto. Lesley holds a Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of Cape Town in South Africa where her research focused on the biosocial lives of South African adolescent boys and young men with perinatally-acquired HIV.
