Emma Sanchez-Swaren

Communications and Events Officer

As the Communications and Events Officer, Emma works to increase the awareness and impact of Reach’s work. Emma is passionate about getting research to those who can use it. Prior to joining the University of Toronto, Emma worked with the Democratic and Inclusive Governance Division of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), where she collaborated with research teams around the world to develop knowledge translation plans, synthesize evidence, and promote research uptake. She has experience co-creating effective communications materials and developing strategies to position evidence for impact.

Emma’s work has focused on legal empowerment and promoting gender equity in contexts affected by conflict and displacement. She has previously collaborated with UNHCR and CARE on these issues, and she helped launch IDRC’s network of research chairs on forced displacement. Emma holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, and a Master’s in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from Sciences Po.
