Africa Health Collaborative

Guided by a unified vision, the partners of the Africa Health Collaborative (AHC) strive to empower young people, equipping them with the skills to advance and sustain the growth of African health sectors and meet the diverse health needs of their respective countries. 

Eight African Universities and the University of Toronto (U of T), in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, are together creating the AHC anchored in Africa. We are working together because we believe higher education institutions are well-positioned to jointly collaborate to develop a vision for and implement a health strategy due to their unique concentration of talent, their mission to train the leaders of the future, and to develop and leverage knowledge to create both global and locally contextualized solutions. 

This collaborative will build on existing networks to ensure local knowledge and expertise are prioritized to create exponential impact. A networked approach allows us to reach across borders and sectoral divisions to collectively address health sector challenges, leveraging the power of institutions as sites of knowledge development, exchange, community collaboration, and cross-sector partnerships. 
The AHC has identified strategic opportunities to develop programs aligned with the three pillars to drive impact: Health Employment, Health Entrepreneurship, and Health Ecosystems. The AHC will co-create and co-deliver health-related programs that will contribute to these pillars and capacity building of Africa’s healthcare systems.
