Waheed Amanjee is a clinician–scientist–entrepreneur in training, driven by a vision to transform African healthcare through compassionate and innovative research. A 2025 Mandela Rhodes Scholar, he is completing a dual degree — the MBChB and MSc (Medicine) — at the Clinical Omics and Informatics Unit, University of Cape Town. He holds a BMedSc (hons) in bioinformatics (cum laude). He co-founded WiZmed.co.za, a medical equipment start-up democratizing access to essential medical tools across Africa, and the African Research Society, a continent-wide student movement strengthening research capacity and leadership among emerging scientists. His current research explores the epigenetic mechanisms underlying amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
