Priyank Chandra is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto, where he directs the Sociotechnical Resistance and Ethical Technologies (STREET) Lab. He works at the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI), development studies, and sociology. His research program focuses on the sociotechnical practices of communities at the margins of society and the design of ethical and inclusive technologies. He has worked with a wide range of communities at the margins of society, with his current work focusing on understanding and supporting social movements. His work has been published at leading human-computer interaction (HCI) conferences. Prior to joining the Faculty of Information, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto’s Computer Science Department. He has completed a PhD in Information from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also holds a MS in Economics and a BE in Electronics Engineering, with prior experience in education research and data analytics.
