Sofia Bordin Rolim is a PhD candidate at the Getulio Vargas Foundation São Paulo School of Law (FGV Direito SP) and at the Department of Government of the University of Bergen (UiB), where she researches protest control in Brazil. She holds a master’s degree from FGV Direito SP and a law degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul. She is a researcher at the Center for Law and Political Economy (FGV) and at the Centre on Law and Social Transformation (UiB/CMI). Sofia has significant experience in researching social movements, public security, state repression, and processes of autocratization. Her previous experiences include working on access to justice at the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust in Dhaka, promoting inclusive political processes at the UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Arab States in Amman, Jordan, and defending immigrant rights in Southern Brazil. She is currently based in Bergen, Norway.
