
Alejandra Sosa is an accomplished communications professional with over 20 years of experience in the Canadian film and media industries. Throughout her career, she has cultivated a strong reputation for her ability to craft compelling, engaging narratives, develop strategic communications strategies, and build meaningful relationships across various sectors.
Most recently, Alejandra served as the Director of Communications at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). In this role, she oversaw a wide range of communications initiatives, including media relations, corporate communications, and influencer outreach, while also leading efforts to elevate underrepresented voices within the film industry and played a pivotal role in delivering the Media Inclusion Initiative, which amplified the voices of emerging film critics and journalists. During her tenure, Alejandra’s writing and editorial work spanned press materials, strategic corporate messaging, and storytelling initiatives to promote TIFF’s diverse programming and talent.
Prior to TIFF, Alejandra worked as the National Director of Communications at the Directors Guild of Canada, where she was the lead on communications strategies, brand development, and marketing campaigns for the organization’s national membership. She also produced content for the DGC’s flagship events, including the DGC Awards Gala.
Earlier in her career, Alejandra honed her writing skills as a Communications Officer at Telefilm Canada and the National Film Board of Canada, where she managed media relations, wrote press materials, and developed content for major industry events and publications.
Alejandra is fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Italian. Throughout her career, her writing and communications expertise have made her a trusted voice in the Canadian film and media landscape.
