This project will develop a practical guidebook to scale Rahat—a blockchain-powered humanitarian aid platform—into new geographies vulnerable to climate-related crises. The research will focus on developing a framework to help Rumsan identify scaling opportunities. In particular, the project will a) understand and highlight the core pillars of Rahat’s success in Nepal, b) define the “efficiency core” (the essential mechanisms driving its impact), c) determine which elements of Rahat might need to be adapted to suit the new context, and d) articulate the contextual conditions necessary for successful adoption in new settings. The resulting framework will be designed to guide scaling across both geographies (e.g., to different countries) and different types of climate-related crises (e.g., river flooding, sea-level rise, typhoons). The Philippines will serve as a case analysis to illustrate the framework and its application to potential expansion.
