Dr. Sarah Haines is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at University of Toronto. Her interdisciplinary research integrates building science, engineering, chemistry and microbiology to analyze the impact the built environment has on human health. The ultimate goal of her work is to create equitable, sustainable and healthy indoor spaces, particularly for those in marginalized communities. Her current work uses cutting-edge microbiology techniques such as next-generation sequencing, metatranscriptomics, and bioinformatics to characterize indoor microbiological exposures. Dr. Haines holds a MS and PhD in Environmental Science, and a BS in Environmental Engineering from The Ohio State University.
